Creating a Space for Change & Inner-Healing

My Philosophy

Deciding to start therapy and finding the right person can be challenging. Sitting down to be present with pain and hurt is not for the weak of heart. I’m in this field because I deeply believe that you are deserving of the space that therapy can offer.

In our busy culture that values independence and productivity, fitting therapy into our lives can be especially difficult.  I understand that it is an investment for you in so many ways.

My passion is helping you navigate what may currently feel overwhelming. Through my expertise, I help you develop curiosity and compassion for your old patterns and gain insight and skills to create change.

How I Can Help You

I enjoy helping clients navigate life stage changes and exploring the complexities of why they may be struggling. Maybe you’re experiencing anxiety, irritability, or depression, and the struggle has become exhausting.

It may be that you long for connection and belonging but continue to feel profound loneliness and isolation in your relationships.

Perhaps the intimacy and eroticism you once had with your partner feel forgotten. This can be especially confusing within supportive relationships.

Maybe you’ve experienced something disturbing or traumatic and you feel like your life has been uprooted. You may be left with overwhelming emotions and confusing beliefs about yourself.

I would like to help you navigate these challenges to find relief.

Throughout my time as a therapist, I’ve specialized in working with patients who have experienced traumatic events. In 2013 I received training in EMDR and have found it to be healing for so many patients.

I have also received specialized training in couple's therapy from the Gottman Institute and I completed an externship in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).  In my work with couples, I also incorporate teachings from the work of relationship expert Esther Perel.

In my practice I also integrate parts work therapy,  psychodynamic therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also incorporate mindfulness practices to support and integrate the mind-body connection.

JUST THE FACTS ABOUT

ANGELICA ABSTON, LPC

I decided to become a therapist because I believe walking through pain and suffering with someone is a sacred space.  I have always been curious about what drives us, and I deeply believe in our resiliency and ability to grow.

As a therapist, clients experience me as warm, authentic, and insightful. I have an ability to hold hard tensions that allow clients the freedom and acceptance to understand difficult truths in their lives.

About Me
In my free time, I love gardening (I'll try to limit the plant metaphors). We're trying to start our own little farm, but with two dogs and four chickens, we have a ways to go.

I also enjoy comedy (I met my husband performing improv in Denver) and taking a hike every once in a while.
