How I Started

Before I was a therapist, I worked as a yoga instructor for several years. From this experience I bring an appreciation for the connection between mind and body. This is reflected in my use of EMDR and mindfulness as therapeutic interventions.

During this time, I recognized the value in using the "here-and-now," which drew me to psychodynamic therapyIn yoga classes, this was observing how reactions to challenges on the mat mirrored those off the mat.

In therapy, it looks like noticing together how patterns in your relationships play out in the therapeutic relationship and then having the opportunity to try new ways of relating in a safe and supportive setting.

Wanting to create a space for personal growth and transformation for people on a deeper level, I found my way from the yoga studio to graduate school. I earned my Master of Social Work at the University of Denver where I trained at the University of Colorado Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic.

I continued on as a full-time therapist in that clinic where I received additional training and mentorship and later served as a volunteer faculty member at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

During this time, I enjoyed supervising psychiatry residents learning group psychotherapy and social work graduate students in their foundation and concentration year placements.
